July Medical Missions

July 29, 2021was no ordinary day at Haven of Rest Orphanage and Youth Center. For the first time in Uyo, Haven of Rest Orphanage and Youth Center Medical Mission took place with over 300 adult eye screenings done with readers provided and over 200 children health screenings complete. God was magnified on this day by the number of children who were given vitamins to combat multivitamin deficiency and vital checks for abnormal labs. So many adults were smiling because they could read again now that they were provided readers for the first time. This community in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, had never had a medical mission such as this take place in their community.
Many children regain their strength after being administered vitamins. Clothes were distributed to every child present at the Medical Mission, and most importantly, the message of salvation was preached with souls re-dedicating their lives to Jesus Christ. It was such an incredible feeling to see the face of God smile at every child in the Orphanage on this day. Trained HIV testing counselors conducted HIV Screening. The news of being optimistic is devastating in this small community, but the technique in which their results of the HIV Test are conveyed, and the love presented, given the duty of providing at times not so good news, but showing kindness in this delicate process indeed demonstrated "Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord" (Prov 19:17, KJV)
